A Reiki treatment is a gentle and profound experience. The client
will lie fully dressed on the treatment table and the therapist
will lay his or her hands on or over the body and head in a series
of different positions.
Each position will correspond to a different chakra (energy gateway).
The practitioner is likely to touch positions on the head, the torso,
legs and feet. As the session proceeds it is common for the client
to feel different sensations these could include: heat, coolness,
tingling, numbness and pressure. These sensations occur as the Reiki
energy restores balance within the body, mind and spirit.
Reiki Master Gaetano Vivo also reads the client’s aura and
balances the chakra and his approach involves very deep channeling
of the Reiki energy.
Reiki takes a holistic approach and each client is different –
this means that your treatment may be longer or shorter than another
persons. Also different treatments may last for different lengths.
As a guideline allow at least two hours for your first session.
To experience the full benefits of Reiki, the therapist may recommend
a course of treatment to run over a period of time. This will not
be open ended and will usually involve 4-6 treatments. However,
the exact number will depend upon each client’s needs.
After the first course of treatment is finished many people return
for seasonal or twice yearly ‘top up treatments’.
Reiki is completely safe but as with all complementary treatments
to ensure the greatest benefits the following guidelines should
be followed:
• If possible wear comfortable, loose clothing to the therapy
session
• Drink a glass of water before the treatment
Following Reiki you may find that you’re very relaxed and
sleepy. Some people may experience a slight headache and/or increased
thirst. It is also common to feel slightly more emotional than normal.
Following a treatment it is best for the rest of the day to be
as quiet as possible. Many people experience a desire to go to sleep
after treatment. It is also common have a reduced desire for fatty
food and alcohol following a Reiki session.
