REIKI
The word Karuna is derived from Sanskrit
and it can be translated as "compassionate action",
that is, any action taken to lessen the suffering of others.
The Karuna Reiki(r) method
was developed by William Lee Rand, who recommends, as well
as the laying on of hands on the body, toning and chanting
a series of symbols, in order to strengthen and amplify the
energy during the Karuna therapy.
The healing power of singing, toning and chanting has been
well known since ancient times, when high priests and shamans
used singing to recite the healing prayers. As a matter of
fact, no musical instrument has the same healing power as the
human voice.
The Karuna intonations are performed through a sequence of
different intervals. An interval is the distance between two
notes. Each note of the interval vibrates at different frequencies.
Each interval has its own characteristics: diatonic intervals
up to and including the fourth act mainly from inside the body,
whereas the sequence of intervals from the fifth to the octave
create a connection between the inside and the outside of the
body.
The intonations used in this music are based on intervals with
identical characteristics to the symbol we are toning, in order
to strengthen the healing action.
ZONAR, toned on a major second interval (C - D), creates a
sense of immobility that later brings us to the beginning of
the movement, gently liberating sensations and recollections
that are part of our emotional life. The second ZONAR intonation,
a major third, inspires a higher emotional and sensitive life,
preparing the individual to relive old emotions, weakening
and reducing the suffering associated with emotional healing
(C - E).
HALU, a perfect fourth interval (C - F), awakens the individual
from a dream, from old emotions lived in the previous intonations.
HALU is also toned on a perfect fifth interval (C - G), balancing
the internal and external space of the body, bringing in addition
joy and expansion to the body.
HARTH is toned on a major sixth (C - A). It is an ethereal
interval, which does not generate tensions, allowing us to
feel the emotions of sweetness and love transmitted by its
compassionate action.
RAMA has an interval of an octave that balances the lower
and the higher chakras and allows the individual to reach the
superior self. In bringing stability it gives balance to the
past and the future (C - C).
GNOSA is toned on a perfect fifth, balancing the internal and
external space of the body, bringing joy and expansion to
the organism (C - G).
KRIYA has an interval of an octave, gives stability and clarity
of mind (C - C).
IAVA has both a perfect fifth and a minor third interval (C
- G), (C - D flat). It touches even further the emotional space
of the individual. SHANTI, its interval is a sixth, implying great openness and
sweetness (C - A). |
